Lleyton Hewitt's Museum Tour

Saturday, July 16 marked Lleyton Hewitt’s Induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, where he joins the ranks of the game's greatest champions.

While visiting Newport and the historic Hall of Fame grounds, Hewitt, with family and friends, toured the museum where he viewed exhibits displaying artifacts, stories of tennis greats, virtual reality experiences, and of course, his own items. Hewitt's Tribute Exhibit includes his 2000 Davis Cup warm-up jacket, tennis shoes from the 2016 Australian Open, a didgeridoo custom made with decoration honoring his career, and the tennis racquet used in the 2001 ATP Masters Cup Final, when he became the ATP Tour's youngest-ever world No. 1.

Hewitt expressed fascination and appreciation while viewing some his own personal items as well as those of other champions. “It’s sort of a surreal moment to be honest, especially along side all the great players of the sport but also a lot of my idols. It’s pretty special to see some of my personal items in here, and see the old rackets, the clothes, and headbands and hats that they wore: the great champions, in some of their biggest matches. It really shows the tradition and history of our great sport.”
