2024 AWARD SPONSORS
FILA R.E.A.C.H. Award
R.E.A.C.H. (Realizing Extraordinary Accomplishments with Courage & Humility) Award
This award was created as homage to the accomplishments of Fila-sponsored athletes. The very first R.E.A.C.H Award recipient was Jennifer Capriati as she made one of the most inspirational comebacks in sports history, winning back-to-back Australian opens in 2001 & 2002. It is Fila’s hope that the R.E.A.C.H Award will inspire & motivate players in TeamFAME to persevere not only in the game of tennis, but in all aspects of life.

presented in memory of
Terrence C. Burns & ROBYN HOLLOWAY
CHARACTER OF A CHAMPION AWARD IN MEMORY OF TERRENCE C. BURNS, supported through the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick T. Burns
Terry Burns was a lifelong educator who went above and beyond for the students and families of Newport. As a math teacher, Vice Principal of Thompson Middle School, and Principal of Rogers High School, he was a tough disciplinarian, with a heart of gold. He knew the power of working hard to overcome unfortunate circumstances, and always sought out students on the edge of failing or going down a bad path and encouraged them to stay in school and make good choices. The stories of how he changed the trajectory of someone's life are endless.
Terry loved to play tennis and was a member here at the Casino Tennis Club, which is now the Hall of Fame Tennis Club. He competed in City of Newport tennis tournaments, determined to win, which he finally did, in the Senior Age division.
Terry was a youth sports coach, and served many educational, civic, and charitable organizations, often in leadership positions. He founded the first Afro Arts Club in the 1970’s and started the sailing team at Rogers. He co-chaired the Thompson Scholarship Fund for decades. He truly cared about and took care of all people, in ways big and small, and celebrated their successes. Terry would be extremely supportive of the TeamFAME program, and immensely proud of its graduates.
CHARACTER OF A CHAMPION AWARD IN MEMORY OF ROBYN HOLLOWAY, supported through the generosity of Mary Lou Cavanaugh
As a member of the TeamFAME Advisory Board, Robyn Holloway dedicated countless hours with students and fellow supporters. Robyn's presence brought smiles and laughter to everyone who walked through the Canfield Learning Center. Newport was Robyn's happy place, and that happiness made the ITHF a better place. Robyn's brilliant spirit continues to shine on the faces of our TeamFAME students as well as fellow family and friends throughout our Newport community.
Robyn embodied the idea that to whom much is given, much is expected. That we all have an obligation to pay it forward. It was her joy in giving back to those youth who needed a boost to get started on their road to happy, healthy, and productive lives. And to instill in young people the confidence to follow their dreams.
This award is presented to a TeamFAME graduate who encompasses Robyn's generous spirit. This deserving student-athlete has compassion for her peers and is always spreading happiness both on and off the court. Robyn would be very proud of this students’ accomplishments and excited to support her next adventure in high school and beyond. We are forever grateful for the long-lasting impact that Robyn has on all the TeamFAME students.
