A Smashing Summer for TeamFAME
TeamFAME summer camp was full of fun and friendships! Through eight weeks of camp, students improved their tennis skills and kept their minds active through academic bingo, visits to the library, community service projects, and fun field trips!
Leading up to the Infosys Hall of Fame Open and Hall of Fame Weekend, students prepared through a variety of learning projects. The students studied TennisWorthy stories from Hall of Famers paired with lessons on core values and research projects on ATP players set to compete in Newport. TeamFAME students brought their lessons to life through firsthand conversations with Hall of Famers and tournament players. Students were able to take the court with both the ATP players and Hall of Famers Kim Clijsters and Leander Paes. These experiences helped the students develop a deeper passion for tennis, promote core values, and inspired students to find their personal greatness.
In celebration of the first two Hall of Famers from India receiving the Ultimate Honor in Tennis, students experienced Indian culture by tasting Indian cuisine, wearing traditional clothing, and taking a field trip to visit the Great Elephant Migration exhibit at Salve Regina University. A highlight of Hall of Fame Weekend was the dedication of the TeamFAME building in honor of Hall of Famer Chris Evert. The newly named Chris Evert Learning Center continues to be a safe and supportive place for TeamFAME students to learn and grow.
TeamFAME’s new 5th grade class participated in 4 weeks of summer camp, learning technique through fun and engaging games.
Rising 9th grade students participated in TeamFAME’s Coach-in-Training program developing their coaching and leadership skills by working with the new students and emphasizing the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.
While the top athletes in the world competed in Paris, TeamFAME hosted their own version of the summer Olympics. Teams representing USA, Brazil, Mexico and Jamaica battled it out for the ultimate prize as they competed in events such as basketball, bowling, golf, track and field, and of course tennis! Students showed great sportsmanship, teamwork and enthusiasm as all the teams made it to the closing ceremonies being proud of their accomplishments.
TeamFAME Ambassadors have been busy this summer working at the Hall of Fame. From Grounds Crew and Events to Retail and TeamFAME staff, seven TeamFAME high schoolers took on their first paid jobs. To cap off an extraordinary summer, these TeamFAME Ambassadors traveled to New York City to attend the Legends Ball where they shared with guests what it means to be in TeamFAME and the impact tennis has on their life. The Class of 2024 graduates were able to experience the US Open for the first time, watching some of top names in tennis compete at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
